What you need to know after your root canal appointment

After a root canal

After a root canal

After your root canal appointment, your tooth will be numb. Do not eat anything that you need to chew. Once the numbness wears off, there are a few things to be aware of. The tooth may be tender to bite on. This is normal for the first 48 hours. If you experience discomfort, take an over the counter pain medication like Tylenol or Advil. If the over the counter pain medication does not relieve the pain, please notify the doctor. If you feel like the tooth touches first when you bite down, you need to notify the office because you may need an adjustment. If you also have a temporary crown, read the instructions for a temporary crown.
