29 year old male from McKinney came into the dentist office with a cavity in his tooth. The tooth was not in pain, however he was educated about tooth decay and decided to have the cavity treated with a tooth colored composite cavity filling. The tooth was numbed. The tooth decay was removed leaving a cavity in the tooth. You can see the caries (tooth decay) in the picture, it is the slightly darker area surrounded by the yellow dentin. In the next picture the dark area is gone leaving only healthy dentin. Then the tooth colored composite filling is placed. The patient reported no pain during the procedure or after the numbness wore off. As always, it was recommended not to eat anything that you have to chew until the numbness wore off. The patient was happy with his visit and his new filling.
